Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) -- The Media, Academic and Youth and Students Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration issued a statement on June 13 urging the "government" authorities to ensure cooperation and exchange between the south and the north of Korea.

The statement deplored that exchange between the south and the north was suspended in the period of the Lee Myung Bak regime.

If the present "government" persists in its moves to bedevil the inter-Korean relations, putting up such precondition as "the north's dismantlement of its nukes," it will follow in the footsteps of the Lee Myung Bak regime, the statement warned, adding:

If the authorities truly stand for confidence-building between the south and the north, they should roll back the policy of confrontation.

It is the way of achieving the nation's reconciliation and cooperation to implement the June 15 joint declaration.
