Blood Donors on Increase in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 14 (KCNA) -- The number of blood donors is on increase in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The government awards orders to periodic blood donors and speaks highly of those who volunteer to donate blood for patients.

It also pays attention to encouraging young people to donate blood.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health has set it as a principle to preferentially supply materials for blood provision and regularly organized workshops for health workers in blood field.

In recent years, the government has invested a large amount of money in updating the National Blood Center under the Ministry of Public Health and provincial blood centers.

Events to mark World Blood Donor Day (June 14) are held annually throughout the country in a way to increase voluntary unpaid blood donors.

Colorful events took place on Thursday to mark the day under the theme of "Blood Donation Is a Gift of Life".

The events included introduction of active blood donors, photo exhibition, and art performance.

The work for blood donation in the country is going on in close cooperation with the World Health Organization and other international agencies.
