End to Korea's Division Called for
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Minjok Sibo, a newspaper of Koreans in Japan, on June 1 carried an article calling for putting an end to the division of the Korean Peninsula.

The article denounced the U.S. for occupying south Korea after the liberation of Korea on August 15, 1945, blocking the independent reunification of the Korean nation and escalating the confrontation with the DPRK. The unabated U.S.-south Korea joint military exercises are symbolic of this, it added.

The U.S. was behind the pro-Japanese quislings in south Korea who rose to power, being disguised as pro-U.S. elements, it noted.

Neither peace nor genuine democracy can be achieved in south Korea as long as these traitors are allowed to stay in power, the article held.

In order to put an end to the division of the Korean Peninsula, it is necessary to sign a peace treaty, the article concluded.
