S. Korean Authorities Urged to Ensure June 15 Joint National Events
Pyongyang, May 30 (KCNA) -- The Kwangju-South Jolla Provincial Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration held a press conference outside the Kwangju City Office on Tuesday demanding the puppet authorities ensure the June 15 joint national events.

In a press release the organization accused the Ministry of Unification of turning down the proposal made by the North Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration to hold the events to mark the 13th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration to be attended by representatives of the south, the north and overseas sides.

The tension on the Korean Peninsula has reached an extreme phase and the Kaesong Industrial Zone was put in the danger of closure due to the U.S.-south Korea Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises staged from last March, the press release noted, and continued:

In order to put an end to the state of war on the peninsula which has lasted for six decades, it is necessary to replace the Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty and opt for implementing the June 15 joint declaration, a landmark for reunification.

The June 15 joint national events can help mend the strained south-north relations as they will reaffirm the will to implement the June 15 joint declaration.

The present regime should positively ensure the events, bearing in mind that it is only the Korean nation which will suffer from its persistent policy of confrontation with the DPRK.
