DPRK Pays Big Efforts to Prevention of Malaria
Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- An event took place at the Taedonggang Diplomatic Club here on Thursday to observe World Malaria Day.

Attending it were officials of the Ministry of Public Health and national institutions, health workers, staff members of international organizations' missions here including the representative of WHO office and the Polish ambassador.

The attendants were briefed on activities for preventing malaria in the DPRK. Then they watched a video on combating malaria and conducted other diverse activities to suit this year's theme "Invest in the future" and "Defeat malaria".

To prevent malaria is one of the DPRK government's priority works. It has directed big efforts to building up material foundations for the prevention of the disease.

In March this year, it carried on vaccination for the inhabitants in the areas susceptible to the disease.

Anti-malaria drugs and sterilized mosquito nets and clothes are supplied regularly to people working outside in evening hours.

Short courses were organized for health workers to make inhabitants get medicinal knowledge about prevention of Malaria.

Meanwhile, a campaign is being intensified to keep all pens and their surroundings clean.
