S. Korean Regime Accused of Insulting Kwangju Uprising
Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- An editor of Minjok Thongsin, an internet paper of Koreans in the U.S., on May 19 released a commentary condemning the south Korean puppet authorities for insulting the May 18 Kwangju Popular Uprising.

The south Korean conservative forces are distorting the essence of the Kwangju uprising with a logic of coloring, the commentary said.

People were prevented from singing a song symbolic of the uprising at events for marking the anniversary of the uprising this year, it noted, adding:

The Kwangju uprising was a righteous struggle of the south Korean people to bring about independence, democracy and reunification in defiance of the U.S. and the military dictatorial forces. Many people were ruthlessly killed in the resistance.

Nevertheless, the present south Korean conservative forces are slandering the uprising and resorting to intrigues.

The commentary called upon overseas Koreans to wage the reunification movement to realize the desire of the uprisers.
