Japan's Lurch to Right under Fire in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- An editorial flaying Japan's lurch to the Right was posted on the Voice of People, an internet newspaper of south Korea, on May 20.

The editorial recalled that acts of tampering with history have gone beyond the tolerance limit and right-wing elements are letting loose a spate of reckless remarks as evidenced by the facts that Japanese politicians are visiting Yasukuni Shrine in an endless stream and the Japanese prime minister is free to make endless outbursts negating Japan's past history of aggression.

It went on:

The co-representative of the Japanese Restoration Party, an ultra-right conservative party, blustered that "sexual slavery was necessary under the situation at that time," when referring to the crimes related to the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army on May 13. He visited the commander of the U.S. forces in Okinawa and unhesitatingly uttered that "service members of the U.S. forces might widely use gay quarters of Japan to gratify their sexual desire in a legitimate manner", bringing to light his moral vulgarity.

It chided the Japanese prime minister, in particular, for having a photo taken with his thumb turning up on the pilot's seat of a training plane No. 731, the figures reminiscent of an ill-famed bacteriological unit of the Imperial Japanese Army. Such behavior sparked off big uproar among various social circles.

Recalling that the rulers of Japan could not escape their miserable ends for negating its history of past aggression and seeking the revival of militarism, the editorial accused the present government of Japan of following in their footsteps.

Its lurch to the Right only precipitates its self-destruction, it warned.
