KCNA Commentary Slams Japan's Lurch to Right
Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- Japan is now disturbed by the growing tendency of veering to the Right.

Waves of ultra-nationalism are sweeping all fabrics of Japanese society and ultra-right forces have become feverish in their activities.

Japan has become undisguised in its moves to secure a legal guarantee for a war state by revising the "Pacifist Constitution."

Displeased with the existing Constitution, its ultra-right forces never let a chance pass by without crying out for the "revision of the Constitution" in a bid to turn Japan into a "country to be allowed by the Constitution to keep an army and to carry out a war" through its revision. They have waited for this opportunity.

Their ulterior intention is to revise the "Pacifist Constitution", which has been in force since the end of the Second World War, as a war constitution and round off the legal foundation for militarizing Japan and launching overseas aggression.

Keeping pace with the atmosphere of society's rapid lurch to the Right, the Liberal Democratic Party recently worked out a "proposal related to defence" for adopting new "defence programme guidelines".

The keynote of the proposal calls for exercising the right to collective self-defence and founding "a defence army" through the constitutional revision and acquiring the capability to strike missile launching bases. It also calls for studying nuclear deterrence strategy under the pretext of threat from someone.

Though the proposal is veiled with the word "defence," it is no more than a war programme for attaining the goal of aggression.

What matters is that Japan is groundlessly accusing the DPRK. Tokyo is misleading the public opinion at home and abroad, asserting that it is compelled by Pyongyang to exercise the right to collective self-defence, build "the defence army" and attack enemy bases.

What Japan claimed has nothing to do with defence. It is nothing but an excuse to carry out its scenario for overseas aggression.

It is the goal of the Japanese reactionaries to turn Japan into a war state with the right to belligerency and the right to participate in a war. The "normal state" touted by Japan precisely means a war state.

By pursuing a war Japan can never shake off the dishonor of being a defeated nation.

To legalize militarization and overseas aggression amounts to a criminal act of blatantly challenging the international conventions stipulating Japan's position as a war criminal state, defeated nation.

Should Japan launches a war of aggression overseas, openly denying its crime-woven past, it will always remain a defeated nation bound to go to ruin.
