Eve Event Marks Kwangju Popular Resistance Anniversary in S. Korea

| Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- The committee for event marking the 33rd anniversary of the May 18 popular resistance in south Korea held an eve event on the theme of "Kwangju in May, Again for Peace and Reunification" in the Kumnam Avenue of Kwangju City on Friday. Present there were more than 5,000 people including laid-off workers of Ssangyong Motors, Ryongsan evacuees and representatives of Kangjong village of Jeju Island. Participants in the event called for building a world without war and violence. They held a rally of workers, pilgrimage in May, photo exhibition, art performance, etc. near the Kumnam Avenue. About 500 people conducted a memorial service in the May 18 cemetery on the same day. |
