Gem Sculpture "Chollima Statue", Gift from Chinese Company

| Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- On display at the International Friendship Exhibition House in the DPRK is a gem sculpture "Chollima (250 mile-a-day horse) Statue", a gift presented to leader Kim Jong Il by a Chinese international tourist agency in August Juche 85 (1996). Officials of the agency frequently toured the DPRK together with tourist groups and witnessed great progress made by the DPRK under the leadership of Kim Jong Il. Out of profound reverence for Kim Jong Il, they prepared the gift and presented it to him when they visited Pyongyang on the occasion of the DPRK's Youth Day. The sculpture portrays Chollima taking a leap with wings stretched out. Reflected in it is the agency employees' wish that the Korean people would speed up socialist construction in the Chollima spirit and vigor, true to the noble intention of Kim Jong Il. |
