Intensified Anti-U.S. Struggle for Independence Called for
Pyongyang, May 9 (KCNA) -- Minjok Sibo, a Korean paper in Japan, dedicated an article to the 33rd anniversary of the May 18 Kwangju Popular Uprising.

The uprising was a struggle to realize social democracy against the military fascist dictatorship, the article noted, adding:

However, it was frustrated by the U.S. forces in south Korea which seized the prerogative of command over its army and, consequently, a stumbling block was laid in the way of the independent development of the Korean nation.

The U.S. imperialists' true colors as aggressors were brought into bolder relief with the uprising as an occasion.

The U.S. is ratcheting up "sanctions" against the DPRK after pulling it up over its satellite launch. The former is also busy staging ceaseless joint military drills with a lot of nuclear war hardware involved in a bid to stifle the DPRK by force of arms.

The U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK can never be tolerated, the article noted, calling for intensifying the anti-U.S. struggle for independence.
