Rodong Sinmun Hails New Line of WPK
Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- The new line of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) on simultaneously pushing forward economic construction and the building of nuclear force serves as a strategic line to be held fast permanently to cope with the imperialists' consistent nuclear threat and arbitrary practices.

Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a bylined article.

Nearly seven decades have passed since the appearance of the first nuclear weapon on the earth, the article notes, and goes on:

This historic era was mainly characterized by the fact that access to nukes decided the position of a power and nuclear powers built the structure of hegemony.

The nuclear powers are working hard to permanently maintain the present order favorable for their domination and interests.

The U.S. and other nuclear powers seeking "unipolar world" have conflicting national interests and ideas.

They are, however, cooperating with each other and desperately preventing other countries from having access to nukes though they are their old friends and their life and death depend on this access.

They claim that nuclear non-proliferation is aimed at global peace and stability. However, a lot of wars and interference in the internal affairs of other countries were perpetrated by nuclear powers including the U.S. since the end of the Second World War.

Nuclear powers failed to protect peace and stability of those countries under their nuclear umbrella.

If the anti-imperialist and independent countries and small countries are to protect their sovereignty and achieve progress in the present world, they should build up their own strength so that no one can provoke. To this end, they have no other option but to build self-supporting economic potential and powerful nuclear force.

The new line of the WPK clearly indicated the way of glorifying the dignity of the country and achieving prosperity in the present world dominated by nuclear powers.
