The statement said President Kim Il Sung embarked on the road of the revolution in his early years and founded the genuine revolutionary armed forces of the people.

The Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) waged the hard-fought anti-Japanese war and liberated the country under the leadership of Generalissimo Kim Il Sung.

After the liberation the KPRA developed into the KPA, regular armed forces.

Thanks to the Songun leadership of Kim Il Sung, invincible and iron-willed commander, the heroic KPA could defeat U.S. imperialism for the first in history and achieve a shining victory in the Fatherland Liberation War that was fought for three years.

The victory won by the army and people of the DPRK greatly inspired the global people in their national liberation struggle and building of new societies.

Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il frustrated all the aggression moves of the U.S. imperialists against the DPRK with their Songun revolutionary leadership.

Today the KPA has grown to be a strong army with a powerful war deterrent that strikes any aggressors with horror.

The 80 odd year-long history of the KPA is really a history of a shining victory.
