28th National Scientific, Technological Festival Closes
Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- The 28th National Scientific and Technological Festival closed with due ceremony at the Three-Revolution Exhibition Tuesday.

The festival has been under way since April 23. Presented to the festival were more than 530 pieces of scientific and technological achievements which proved successful at the festivals of ministries and national institutions, Pyongyang and local areas.

Present there were Premier Pak Pong Ju, Choe Sang Gon, chairman of the State Science and Technology Commission, officials concerned, scientists, technicians, three-revolution team members and other people.

The results of the festival were announced by the jury at the closing ceremony.

The Ministry of Railways, Taedonggang Tile Factory, Faculty of Metal Engineering of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Ryongsong Meat Processing Factory and the Information and Communication Department of the Posts and Telecommunication Management Bureau in North Phyongan Province took special places.

16 units including the Nanotechnology Institute of Kim Il Sung University came first and Paek Un Chol, researcher of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Kwang Chol, director of the Central Information and Communications Center, and 12 others placed first.

North Phyongan Province took the first place in the exhibition contest and the Center for Development of Solar Heating Equipment occupied the special place in the contest for exchange of new technologies.

The prize of scientific and technical merit went to the Uiju Foodstuff Factory in North Phyongan Province, Munchon Foodstuff Factory of Kangwon Province, Fermentation Research Institute of the Branch Academy of Light Industrial Science and the Center for Lighting Research.
