DPRK's Stand Favored by Russian Figure
Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- Victor Petrov, chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, issued a statement on April 21 in support of the statement of the Policy Department of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

Just is the stand taken by the DPRK to cope with the present situation, he said, and went on:

The DPRK was compelled to take all steps as attempts persisted to pass the buck for all provocations to it.

The negotiations for peace which the DPRK not only desires but for which it is always ready are possible only when the U.S. and south Korea stop provocations unconditionally.

The statement of the Policy Department of the DPRK National Defence Commission clarified the constructive and firm stand of the DPRK on denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.

It is quite natural for the DPRK to react to the U.S. with nuclear deterrent because the U.S. was the first to introduce nuclear weapons into south Korea.

The world is well aware of the sinister intention of the U.S., which invaded Yugoslavia, Iraq and Libya on groundless charges and killed their innocent people.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula are directly linked with peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region and, furthermore, in the rest of the world.

Accordingly, the international public should properly understand the truth about the situation prevailing on the peninsula and cooperate in the efforts to pave the way for peace negotiations.
