U.S. Accused of Escalating Tension on Korean Peninsula
Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- Guy Dupre, secretary general of the International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea, issued a statement on April 12 as regards the grave situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula due to the U.S. imperialists' moves for a new war.

The situation on the peninsula is getting so strained day by day due to the joint military exercises of the U.S. and south Korean belligerent forces that it has inched close to the outbreak of war, the statement said, and went on:

The DPRK clarified its stand to defend its sovereignty and dignity with its powerful nuclear deterrent to cope with the U.S. imperialists and their allies' ever-escalating military threats and unreasonable sanctions. It also took steps for self-defence to shatter the U.S. moves for aggression.

The international liaison committee makes it clear to all progressive forces and peace-loving forces of the world that it is none other than the U.S. which aggravates the situation on the peninsula.

It denounces the new war moves of the U.S. and its allies against the Korean people and calls for voicing solidarity for their just cause to protect peace and security on the peninsula.
