Peace Must Be Achieved on Korean Peninsula: S. Korean Organizations
Pyongyang, April 19 (KCNA) -- At least 70 women's organizations in south Korea including the Federation of Women's Organizations, the Women's Solidarity and the Women's Society for Achieving Peace released a declaration on peace on Tuesday.

The escalating tension on the Korean Peninsula is arousing deep concern, the declaration said, and went on:

This situation points to the unreasonableness of the armistice system and at the same time proves that distrust and confrontation will lead to a war.

Security and happy life of women can be guaranteed only when peace is ensured on the peninsula and the south and the north are reunified. Women want establishment of peace mechanism and realization of denuclearization.

The declaration demanded the U.S. have direct negotiations with the north in order to replace the Korean Armistice Agreement by peace one.

It urged the south Korean regime to opt for dialogue to remove the distrust and confrontation with the north.

It called upon people of all social standings to turn out in actions for peace against war to remove the danger of a nuclear war and realize peace on the peninsula.
