Anti-War Action Staged in Kwangju, S. Korea
Pyongyang, April 19 (KCNA) -- The action for peace against war is now under way in Kwangju City, south Korea.

The Kwangju Consultative Council of Citizens Organizations held a press conference on Monday.

The tension on the Korean Peninsula has gone beyond the danger line, it said, adding: The continued tension will have a baneful impact not only on Northeast Asia but on the rest of the world. Looking back on the disasters of the June 25 war, the outbreak of another war on the Korean Peninsula should not be allowed.

Koreans in the south and the north and abroad and the peace-loving people of the world should intensify the solidarity action for peace against war on the peninsula.

An action for peace against war was staged beside the former South Jolla Provincial Office in Kumnam Avenue, Kwangju City that day. It was sponsored by the Emergency Situation Council for Defusing the Danger of War and Ensuring Peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The participants declared they were convinced once again that dialogue was the only way of preventing a war and defending peace.

The U.S. and the present south Korean regime are now talking about "dialogue" with the north but their sincerity is skeptical, they said, adding that the action would start from Kumnam Avenue where shouts of the participants in the May 18 Popular Resistance are still heard and make the whole of Kwangju City swept by the waves of actions for peace against war.
