Landscaping in Full Swing in DPRK
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea launched a nationwide spring campaign for landscaping the country, although it is faced with a highly volatile situation caused by the U.S. and south Korean persistent moves for nuclear war provocation.

People from all walks of life, including servicepersons, have turned out in the campaign to green streets, parks, pleasure grounds, etc.

Living an optimistic life even under the complicated situation is one of the traditions established by the anti-Japanese Korean revolutionary fighters, who brought about Korea's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule in 1945. The fighters always paid deep attention to living environment even in those days marked by fierce battles against the Japanese aggressors.

In this regard, President Kim Il Sung in his reminiscences "With the Century" said: "In those days we paid special attention to order in the daily routine. Even the sight of our camping sites or the sites of our camp fire often caused the enemy to abandon the idea of pursuing us."

Such trait of life was fully displayed during socialist construction in the DPRK.

It was when the Korean People's Army captured the U.S. armed spy ship "Pueblo", which intruded deep into the DPRK's territorial waters. A touch-and-go situation prevailed on the Korean Peninsula after the incident.

At that time, Kim Il Sung said that economic construction should be continued until today even if a war may break out tomorrow. Encouraged by his pluck, the local people pressed ahead with construction even under the acute situation.

In the days of "Arduous March," the forced march, too, the Korean people face-lifted their worksites and villages with the slogan "Let us live not merely for today but for tomorrow" kept in their minds. Inspired by leader Kim Jong Il's patriotism, an upswing was made in city management and many rural communities underwent a great change when the country was in hard time.

Even though the country's situation remains tense, its people will never stop their patriotic work for the wellbeing of posterity with firm conviction of victory.
