S. Korean Organizations Call for Peace against War
Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- The People's Action for Achieving Peace against War was inaugurated in Seoul, south Korea. It consists of more than 30 organizations including the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification, the Solidarity for Progress and the Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty.

A press conference on the inauguration was held on Wednesday.

At the conference the organization said the situation on the Korean Peninsula has reached a brink of war after going beyond the danger level due to the U.S. and south Korean regime's racket of "sanctions" and joint military drills against the north.

Nevertheless, the south Korean "government" and "National Assembly" have failed to make substantial efforts to control the situation and got frantic in confrontation racket, it deplored.

It went on:

The decades-long "sanctions" and military pressure upon the north have resulted in the on-going nuclear showdown.

The south Korean people organize the People's Action for Achieving Peace against War which involves people from all walks of life including workers, peasants, youth and students and religious persons in a bid to check a war and achieve peace.

The organization will stage positive actions including signature campaign and publication of declaration for the peaceful settlement of the issue on the Korean Peninsula.

It underscored the need to conduct activities for building an international public opinion in favor for achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula and in other parts of the Asia-Pacific region.
