Nuclear Deterrence for Self-defence Is Essential for DPRK: Brazilian Political Party Leader
Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- Bolstering of nuclear deterrent for self-defence is indispensable for the DPRK which is exposed to constant war threat from the U.S.

Rosanita Campos, vice-president of the Party for Free Motherland of Brazil, said this in a statement on March 20.

He denounced the U.S. imperialists and their allies and dutiful media for slandering the DPRK, adding:

The DPRK has proposed several times replacing the Korean Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty to create an atmosphere of stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

But the U.S. did not accept the proposal and, on the contrary, has escalated military provocations against the DPRK in league with the south Korean puppet army, after deploying armed forces of aggression including nuclear weapons in south Korea.

The sanctions inflicted on the DPRK by the UN Security Council at the instigation of the U.S. over its peaceful plan for space development and nuclear program have no ground and are intolerable in view of the principle of international law.

The DPRK conducted a nuclear test with success recently.

It needed to bolster nuclear deterrence in order to prevent a new war.

But for the hostile policy and nuclear threat from the U.S., the DPRK would have concentrated its efforts on social and economic development rather than on nuclear deterrence to deter a war.

But it was an unavoidable choice for self-defence.
