Hygienic Campaign Launched in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- March and April are spring clean-up months in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In this regard, KCNA met Choe Si Hun, secretary of the Central Hygienic Guidance Committee.

Choe said:

This year marks the 55th anniversary of the beginning of the clean-up months in the country.

The Committee laid down the tasks to be carried out in the months while making survey and control of their implementation. It is also stepping up the hygienic information activities in cooperation with mass media.

Related officials have already been dispatched to localities to encourage their inhabitants to take part in the hygienic campaign.

The Kangwon Provincial People's Committee conducted various forms of political work to arouse all inhabitants to the clean-up campaign with a correct understanding of its purpose, contents and significance. In the meantime Phyongsong City, South Phyongan Province and Hamhung City, South Hamgyong Province are concentrating efforts on the work to readjust public hygienic facilities and water supply and drainage networks and spruce up streets, villages and worksites.

Choe In Chol, chief engineer of the Rangnang Ponghwa Garment Factory, said:

It is the primary task at present to clear away all traces of winter season. This work should be done in a way not to pollute environment.

The factory is now buckling down to repair of walls and fences, rearranging of roads and flower beds and tree planting.

Leader Kim Jong Il visited the factory two years ago and was greatly satisfied to see its interior and exterior kept clean and neat like a palace and a park.
