Ryongmun Cavern, Underground Scenic Spot in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- With many scenic spots across the country, Korea has long been called a tapestry-like land of three thousand ri (1 200 kilometers).

One of them is Ryongmun Cavern located in Kujang County, North Phyongan Province. The cavern boasts of myriad shapes of lime stones formed through many years of solution and corrosion.

It has two main caves, with more than 30 branch caves in them. What catches the eyes there are Phungnyon-dong and Sokhwa-dong redolent of grain stacks and various species of flowers and Paekhwa-dong characterized by a wave of stalactites hung at ceiling.

The cavern rose to fame as a tourist destination thanks to leader Kim Jong Il's deep love for the people.

When visiting it on March 26, Juche 85 (1996), he said the cavern is very spectacular and gave detailed instructions for its management and sightseeing. Later, he took all measures to turn it into a fascinating tourist destination.

The cavern is always bustling with visitors.
