Experts in International, Legal Affairs Interviewed
Pyongyang, March 13 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists and their allies, who have escalated hostile acts against the DPRK over its peaceful satellite launch, are now holding large war exercises against the backdrop of another "resolution on sanctions" against it.

Experts in international and legal affairs were interviewed by KCNA Wednesday in this regard.

Kim Ul Ho, vice-director of the International Affairs Institute, said that satellite launch is a legitimate right of a sovereign state.

Recently the U.S. and Japan launched ballistic missiles but the UN Security Council has not taken this issue up for discussion, he said, and went on:

The "resolution" on the DPRK, in the final analysis, was a violation of the sovereignty of the DPRK, a country that has unswervingly followed the path of independence, Songun and socialism. The DPRK's peaceful satellite launch was branded as a ballistic missile launch, a reflection of inveterate repugnance against it. The approval of the "resolution" was a serious violation of international law and an insult to it.

Hong Chol Hwa, director of the Legislation Institute of the Academy of Social Sciences, said that the another "resolution on sanctions" that was approved on March 7 does not deserve even a passing note as it was retrogressive remaking of the illegal past "resolutions".

Completely unacceptable are documents of the UN Security Council, which blindly dances to the tune of the U.S., a country ill-famed for high-handed and arbitrary practices and swindling, bereft of impartiality, objectivity and equity.

Ho Hon Gil, vice-director of the Supreme Court, cited facts to prove that the U.S. is a main architect of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula and an arch criminal who made the issue next to impossible.

He went on:

Many Koreans who were taken to Japan for military service and forced labor for the Japanese imperialists became the first and direct victims of the U.S. imperialists' nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

During the Korean War, the U.S. planned to form a radioactivity corridor zone on the Korean Peninsula and blackmailed Koreans with A-bomb, forcing lots of families to live separated in the north and the south and abroad.

After their occupation of south Korea, the U.S. imperialists shipped nuclear weapons to south Korea. On January 29, 1958 they brought those weapons to south Korea in wanton violation of international law including NPT. They have turned south Korea into the biggest nuclear arsenal in the Far East. In the new century, too, the U.S. has continued nuclear blackmails against the DPRK after putting it in the list of targets of preemptive nuclear strike.

Hong Chol Hwa said that the DPRK's third underground nuclear test marked an important occasion in defending the peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia and the rest of the world.

The situation proves that the successful nuclear test is a just measure for defending the sovereignty of the country and its right to launch satellite for peaceful purposes and safeguarding the right of the nation to existence, he stressed, adding:

There can be no settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula unless the U.S. makes a switchover in its nuclear policy by which it regards the nuclear weapons as a basic means for stifling the DPRK.
