DPRK Pays Big Efforts to Protecting Wild Animals
Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- March to July are set as months for protecting wild animals in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The law on protection of wild animals was adopted in the country in November Juche 87 (1998). Since then, the government has paid deep attention to the work.

The C.C., Nature Conservation Union of Korea and other related institutions have energetically conducted activities to inform the inhabitants of the necessities and ways for protecting and propagating wild animals.

The number of sanctuaries for animals and birds has considerably increased across the country.

Meanwhile, a campaign to create meadows in hills and mountains was launched on a nationwide scale in this tree-planting season.

Forests surrounding primary and secondary schools in rural areas have become home to species of birds.

Particular attention is paid to preserving the species of endangered or rare animals.
