DPRK-Japan Joint Concert Given in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) -- A concert of the State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Japanese Michiyoshi Inoue was given at the People's Theater on Friday.

The State Symphony Orchestra has a global reputation for its long history and talented conductors and players.

The joint concert given by the orchestra and the Japanese conductor's party consisting of international concours winners drew deep attention of the audience.

Among the audience were creators and artistes, teachers and students in the field of art education and members of the Kumgangsan Opera Troupe of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan.

Put on the stage were orchestral music "Arirang" and Beethoven's symphony No. 9 "Ode to Joy".

The performers impressively showed that the Koreans, who sang "Arirang", symbolic of sorrow of the stateless nation in the past, are leading a dignified life as independent people.

They made emotional and joyful presentation of Beethoven's symphony No. 9 "Ode to Joy".

As the climax of Beethoven's creations, the symphony composed in 1824 expresses mankind's delight and joy of victory with elegant and strong musical language.

The concert was applauded by the audience for the experienced and dynamic conduct by Japanese conductor Michiyoshi Inoue, musical supervisor of renowned symphony orchestras, the delicate and perfect representation by DPRK's players and the rich voice of singers.
