Stop to Crackdown on Actions for Settlement of Sexual Slavery Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- Civic and social organizations in south Korea including the Changwon Citizens Council with Grandmothers Former Sexual Slaves for the Imperial Japanese Army held a press conference in Changwon, South Kyongsang Province on March 1. At the conference they denounced the Japanese right-wing forces for clamping down the movement for a solution to the issue of sexual slavery.

Speakers accused the Japanese right-wing forces and police of distorting historical facts while making reckless remarks denying Japan's past crimes and cracking down on the movement for the settlement of the issue of sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army.

This reminds one of the period of the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule over Korea when they suppressed the organizations of the independence movement and their participants, they deplored.

The above-said unreasonable and violent crackdown is a shameless act of disregarding the pain of the victims of the sexual slavery and negating the crimes, they noted, adding:

It is hard to say such repressive campaign is not connected with the attempt of the Abe government and political forces to revive militarism and turn Japan into a military giant.

Japan should stop cracking down on the movement for the settlement of the sexual slavery and the south Korean authorities make positive efforts to seek a solution to the issue.
