DPRK Marks Tree-planting Day
Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- March 2 is observed as tree-planting day in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

With this day as an occasion, many trees of good species have been planted in different parts of the country, including the Arboretum of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and Moran Hill in Pyongyang.

The Ministry of Land and Environmental Conservation and other forestry fields channeled big efforts to providing saplings of species suitable to different zones and plots, paying attention to increasing the rate of rooting.

Pyongyang City and South Phyongan and South Hwanghae provinces maintain the principle of planting right species of trees on right soil.

Afforesting the country is one of the behests of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.

On March 2, Juche 35 (1946), Kim Il Sung climbed Moran Hill together with the anti-Japanese war hero, Kim Jong Suk, and young Kim Jong Il, underscoring the need to landscape the country.

When visiting a unit of the Korean People's Army in March 2004, Kim Jong Il personally planted trees with officers and soldiers of the unit, saying tree-planting is a significant work which should be done for the posterity.

The dear respected Kim Jong Un, who typifies Kim Jong Il's patriotism at the highest level, called for making tree planting a nationwide movement so as to turn the whole country into a socialist fairyland when making an inspection tour of a KPA unit on March 2, 2012.

Now the DPRK people have turned out in a spring tree planting campaign, considering it a patriotic work.
