S. Korean Organizations Demand Halt to Anti-North War Drills
Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- Members of civic and social organizations of south Korea including the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification, the Solidarity for Progress and the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification Thursday held a press conference in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul in protest against U.S.-south Korean Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint war exercises.

Speakers there held that Key Resolve and Foal Eagle were offensive exercises as they are aimed at occupying the whole areas of the north under the simulated conditions of "contingency" in it.

The large-scale war drills to be kicked off against the backdrop of the daily escalating tension on the Korean Peninsula would only spark a military conflict, they warned.

They urged the warlike forces to immediately halt the war drills for aggression and the anti-DPRK "sanctions" racket.

Declaring that they would stage various actions against the war drills, they called upon citizens to positively join in them.

Similar press conferences took place in major cities of south Korea including Pusan and Kwangju on the same day.
