Senior Official of Russian Political Party Hails DPRK's Nuclear Test
Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- Kalashnikov, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation who is first vice-chairman of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee, posted on a website a commentary hailing the DPRK's underground nuclear test on Feb. 13.

He said:

The reason why the DPRK was compelled to conduct the nuclear test is very clear.

It was a product of the international community's attitude.

Any country could not but be concerned about its fate when thinking of what the U.S. and the West did against Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

The DPRK is not sufficient in electricity and food, but it opted for an underground nuclear test.

It keenly realized that no one else but itself can give security assurances.

He said that he cannot help expressing sympathy with the stance of the country, when recalling the lesson taught by some countries, adding that had Russia failed to possess nukes, it would have been leveled to the ground like Yugoslavia.
