Korean in U.S. Accuse Japan of Suppressing Chongryon
Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- An editor of Minjok Thongsin, an internet paper of Koreans in the United States, published an article on Feb. 23 accusing the Japanese government of its inhuman suppression of Koreans in Japan.

Slamming the Abe government for cracking down on Koreans in Japan under the pretext of the north's nuclear test, the article continued:

It barred vice-chairmen of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) from visiting the homeland and decided to exclude only the Korean schools operated by Chongryon from the application of the tuition free program for senior high schools. Moreover, local self-governing bodies including those in Kanagawa and Saitama prefectures suspended the payment of subsidies to Korean schools.

Japanese police searched a company of Korean businessman in Japan and his house for the mere reason that he sent goods to the north. Rightist gangsters thronged to Chongryon offices and Korean schools in different areas, shouting "Kill all Koreans".

Japan's behaviour is touching off criticism of the international community.

We Koreans in the U.S. vehemently denounce the Japanese government for resorting to frantic national discrimination in disregard of international law, ethics and morality, while suppressing Koreans in Japan by codifying even discrimination against the education of their children.

We can hardly repress resentment at the Japanese imperialists when thinking of the pain inflicted by them upon the Korean nation, the article said, urging the Japanese authorities to stop inhumane suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan and apologize for it at an early date.
