The British Branch of the Korean Friendship Association issued a statement on February 15, saying that Kim Jong Il was a great leader in the era of independence who devoted all his life to the happiness of the people and the accomplishment of the cause of global independence.

He has turned the DPRK into a powerful nation of independence, the statement noted.

Many countries and even some big powers are becoming victims and playthings of the U.S. strategy of hegemony but only the DPRK is holding high the banner of independence, it said, adding this is because the DPRK is firmly adhering to the principle of independence in politics, self-support in the economy and self-reliance in national defence, guided by the Juche idea founded by President Kim Il Sung and developed by Kim Jong Il.

The DPRK is now steadfastly advancing according to its viewpoint and decision, not reading other's face, it noted, and went on:

The independence of the DPRK is the most valuable legacy bequeathed by Kim Jong Il.

His cause is being successfully carried forward by the dear respected Kim Jong Un.

The Arab Committee for Solidarity with Korean People and Supporting the Reunification of Korea said in a statement on February 7 that the Korean people feel proud of their country and confident of the future, adding that celebrating his birth anniversary is of great significance.
