Kim Jong Il's Birth Anniversary Celebrated in Different Countries
Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- Events took place in different countries from Feb. 4 to 11 to celebrate the birth anniversary of general secretary Kim Jong Il.

They included a friendship gathering in Cambodia, round-table talks in Dominica, film shows in Romania, Senegal and Ethiopia and photo and book exhibition and film show in Uganda.

Participants of the film shows watched Korean films including "Old Home in Mt. Paektu Shining with Glory" and "Reply of Korea."

Vasile Orleanu, chairman of the Supreme Council of the Socialist Party of Romania, praised Kim Jong Il as the greatest man.

Thanks to his wise leadership the DPRK turned into an invincible socialist power, the chairman said.

A deputy director of the Ministry of City Planning of Senegal lauded the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, noting the drive of the Korean army and people to face-lift the country is an example to be followed by Senegalese.

The acting executive secretary of the Ugandan National Women's Council and other speakers praised Kim Jong Il as a peerlessly elder statesman as he turned socialist Korea into a matchless politico-military power with his Songun revolutionary leadership.

A minister of state of Cambodia sincerely hoped that the Korean people, single-mindedly united around the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, would register successes in their efforts to achieve the prosperity and reunification of the country and defend its sovereignty.
