Kim Jong Il Praised by Foreign Papers
Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- Foreign newspapers carried special write-ups praising general secretary Kim Jong Il on the occasion of his birth anniversary (the Day of the Shining Star).

The Lao newspaper Pasason on Feb. 15 carried an article titled "Comrade Kim Jong Il and his life" illustrated with a portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il.

The paper cited facts to prove that he successfully realized the cause of immortalizing the leader with lofty moral obligation towards President Kim Il Sung.

Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il led a simple life, said the paper, adding:

He saw to it that statues and monuments were erected in honor of the revolutionary martyrs and those who rendered distinguished services for the country, but disallowed the erection of his own statue.

People's happiness was his greatest pleasure.

Thanks to his dedication, the DPRK could firmly defend socialism and bring about a turning point in building a thriving nation.

Another Lao paper Vatelao carried a special article praising his patriotic life accompanied with a portrait of the smiling leader on the same day.

The Indian papers Krishna Aberta and Indian and World Event on Feb. 10 and 15 each dedicated one whole page to articles under the captions of "Kim Jong Il's patriotism", "Music and Kim Jong Il" and "He believed in people as in Heaven" illustrated with his photos.
