S. Korean Organization Protests against Wholesale Dismissal
Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- The Part-time Workers' Union at Schools of south Korea on Feb. 20 held a press conference outside the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in protest against the "government" authorities' unreasonable wholesale dismissal, according to KBS of south Korea.

The educational authorities canceled contracts with about 1 000 persons among part-time members working at primary, secondary and high schools across south Korea and dismissed 910 assistant teachers in the run -up to the new school term.

At the press conference, speakers denounced the authorities for unilaterally canceling the contracts with part-time members under the pretext of lack of budget, stirring up unrest in employment.

They threatened to launch a sit-in hunger strike and stage a general strike next month unless the "government" takes a step to bring the wholesale dismissal under control.
