S. Korean Authorities Urged to Settle Labor Problem
Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Wednesday made public the results of an opinion poll on labor problem.

According to the poll, more than 90 percent of the respondents held that the Lee Myung Bak regime should settle the labor issue before the tenure of its office expires.

And more than 77 percent of the respondents said that the authorities should conduct the earliest possible state investigation into the situation at Ssangyong Motors where workers were dismissed en masse and indiscriminately suppressed.

Majority of the respondents held that the enterprises should stop accusing and charging the striking workers with offenses, threatening them with compensation for damage, etc., immediately reinstate the dismissed workers and turn the part-time jobs into regular ones.

The confederation urged the authorities to immediately opt for solving the labor problem, warning that they will face strong protest in case they turn down these demands.
