Events Held Abroad to Mark Day of Shining Star
Pyongyang, February 3 (KCNA) -- Seminars, lectures and film shows took place in Democratic Congo, Germany, Malaysia and Kuwait in the period between January 19 and 29 to mark the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il (the Day of the Shining Star).

Participants in the film shows watched "Wheel of Happiness" and other Korean films.

Otete Gaston Mboyo, deputy general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Democratic Congo, said:

Generalissimo Kim Jong Il frustrated the intensified moves of the U.S. imperialists and their followers to stifle the DPRK and firmly defended the sovereignty of the country, holding aloft the banner of Songun in the whole period of his revolutionary leadership.

Kim Jong Il was the genius of revolution and construction and peerlessly great man as he laid a solid foundation for building a socialist economic power, depending on ultra-modern science and technology.

The Korean people and progressive mankind of the world will always remember him.

The chief of the Franken Group for the Study of the Juche Idea of Germany in his speech highly praised the immortal exploits Kim Jong Il performed by turning the DPRK into a power no one can provoke.

The chairman of the Malaysian preparatory committee for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star in a lecture noted that the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il serves as a treasured sword with which the DPRK frustrated the moves of the imperialists to stifle it and defended itself.

The chairman stressed that the DPRK proudly reached the high status of a nuclear weapons state, satellite manufacturer and launcher. It is the greatest of the exploits of Kim Jong Il who had boundless love for the people and regarded the sovereignty of the country as his life and soul, he added.

A letter to the dear respected Kim Jong Un was adopted at the event held in Germany.
