Kim Chaek, Paragon of Revolutionaries
Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- Kim Chaek (Aug. 1903-Jan. 1951) was a paragon of Korean revolutionaries, who was intensely loyal to the leadership of President Kim Il Sung.

With ardent patriotism and high degree of class awareness, he embarked on the road of revolutionary activities in his school days.

For years, he had been in agony, groping for an outstanding leader who would guide the Korean revolution in a right way.

It was after meeting with Kim Il Sung that Kim Chaek focused his activities on ensuring the close unity of Korean revolutionaries with Kim Il Sung as their leader.

After the birth of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland by Kim Il Sung in May, Juche 25 (1936), he energetically pushed ahead with the work to rally broad masses of people under the banner of the Association.

As an able commanding officer of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, he tactfully commanded lots of battles in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, thus dealing heavy blows to the Japanese aggressors.

He had always regarded loyalty to the leader as lifeblood.

Soon after Korea's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule, he paid primary attention to defending the personal safety of President Kim Il Sung and took the lead in organizing the bodyguards before anything else.

Though there were obstruction moves of the factional elements, he actively helped Kim Il Sung in his work for founding the party and displayed his indomitable will and fully discharged his duty as the first president of Pyongyang Institute, entrusted by the President.

Possessed of high ability, he, as a deputy premier of the country, creditably implemented the tasks given by Kim Il Sung.

In the early period of the Fatherland Liberation War (Jun.1950-Jul.1953), he was active as a front commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA). At the time of temporary strategic retreat on the part of the KPA, he built up defences for Pyongyang in line with Supreme Commander Kim Il Sung's operational plan and commanded defence battles with success.

In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, there are a city, an iron and steel complex and a university named after Kim Chaek.

And produced were such feature films dealing with Kim Chaek's life as "The Road to the Front" and "The Untrodden Path".
