S. Korean Authorities Urged to Recognize Government Employees Union
Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- 87 civic and social bodies in south Korea held a news conference in Seoul on Jan. 22 at which they urged the puppet government to recognize the Government Employees Union and reinstate the fired employees.

The chairman of the union and others spoke there.

They accused the regime of refusing to accept the application for creating the union and suppressing it after labeling it an illegal one.

They deplored that more than 130 unionists were sacked for the mere reason that they voiced opposition to irregularities and corruption.

They said that nowhere in the world the legal status of the government employees unions are not recognized.

They urged the authorities to recognize the union and reinstate the unreasonably discharged unionists as early as possible.

The authorities should no longer be allowed to deprive the unionists of their rights, they stated, expressing the will to stage a dynamic action to have their issue settled.
