Withdrawal of U.S. Troops from S. Korea Demanded
Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- Peruvian and Swiss organizations made public statements in support of the memorandum of the DPRK Foreign Ministry issued on Jan. 14.

The Peruvian Committee for Remembering Generalissimo Kim Jong Il in a statement on Jan. 16 said that the "UN Command" in south Korea under the signboard of the UN is, in fact, the U.S. forces command in south Korea. The statement went on:

The U.S. has not dissolved the "UN Command" since the conclusion of the Armistice Agreement. Its real intention is to justify the permanent presence of the U.S. forces in south Korea.

The Armistice Agreement should be replaced with a peace treaty for durable peace on the Korean Peninsula.

We fully support the memorandum of the DPRK Foreign Ministry and strongly demand the immediate withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea.

The Switzerland-Korea Committee and the Swiss Group for the Study of the Juche Idea in a joint statement on Jan. 15 held that if the U.S. keeps maintaining the illegal "UN Command" and transforms it into a "multinational forces command", a new war may break out on the Korean Peninsula any moment.

The DPRK will steadily bolster up its strong self-defence deterrence to cope with the U.S. hostile policy towards it, the statement said, demanding the dissolution of the illegal "UN Command" and the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea.
