Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) -- School youth and children in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are now spending their winter vocation days with sports and social activities.

Sports parks, Ice Rink, People's Open-air Ice Rink and Skate Park in Pyongyang are crowded with schoolchildren playing ice and roller skating.

They also entertain themselves at the Pyongyang Students and Children's Palace, Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace and the Central Youth Hall.

Football and basketball games and Taekwon-Do contests are gaining momentum among students.

Yut and paduk (go) are favorite folk games of schoolchildren.

In particular, kite-flying is popular among children. Kites with letters reading "knowledge, good morality and health", "five marks" and "satellite launch" and those portraying the DPRK national flag are seen flying in the air above Kim Il Sung Square, plaza of April 25 House of Culture and other places of Pyongyang City.

Visits to revolutionary sites and get-together with war veterans are also organized in the vocation days.

Meanwhile, university students in Pyongyang conduct various forms of agitation activities at industrial establishments and on co-op farms to encourage workers and peasants in effecting innovations in production and farming preparation in hearty response to the dear respected Kim Jong Un's New Year address.
