Rodong Sinmun Calls for Preserving Idea of Independence, Peace and Friendship
| Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- The Worker's Party of Korea and the DPRK government will positively contribute to developing relations of friendship and cooperation with different countries of the world and making the whole world independent, says Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a bylined article.
It goes on:
Independence, peace and friendship are the idea of the foreign policy consistently maintained by the DPRK.
The DPRK has firmly maintained independence in foreign relations.
It does not allow any slightest act of violating the sovereignty of the country and hurting the dignity of the nation but retaliates against it.
The DPRK deals with any affair in a fair and aboveboard manner, without currying favor with anyone or reading his face in the international arena.
No one can dictate to the DPRK what it should do as it is advancing under the banner of independence.
Had the DPRK failed to tightly hold arms, it would have allowed the imperialists to ignite the second Korean war and disturb peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the world.
The DPRK has made its utmost efforts to boost the nation's defense capability, regarding Songun as an important factor of creating a favorable environment for preserving peace and sovereignty. This is aimed to build a thriving nation in a peaceful environment free from a war.
The DPRK will, in the future, too, make positive efforts to check and frustrate the imperialists' offensive against the DPRK, achieve peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and preserve peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world.
The DPRK will make every possible effort to establish fair international relations and international order as a member of the international community.
Invariable and unshakable are the stand and will of the WPK and the DPRK government to consistently materialize the idea of the foreign policy -- independence, peace and friendship.
