Strike for Withdrawal of Part-time Jobs and Layoff Waged by S. Korean University Teachers
Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Teachers of universities of south Korea including Kyongbuk National University, Pusan National University, Jeonnam National University and Chosun University under the part-time professors' trade union of south Korea launched a strike for the withdrawal of part-time job and layoff on Dec. 20.

There took place a press conference regarding the strike in the vicinity of the "government" building in Seoul.

Speakers at the conference said that the indiscriminate structuring and massive layoff are prevalent in the universities. They deplored discrimination with which teachers were treated even though they should be given regular jobs and their right to existence being threatened by forced layoff.

They recalled that teachers of five universities will take part in the strike all together in protest against the university sides' discrimination policy against part-time teachers. They expressed their will to certainly abolish the part-time job and layoff, slavery system of modern version that leads to exploitation and plunder.

They demanded that the "government" and the university sides roll back the policy of discriminating part-time teachers, raise wage for teachers and fully ensure the rights to education and existence.
