Anti-Japanese Women's Association
Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 86th anniversary of the Anti-Japanese Women's Association, organized by Kang Pan Sok, mother of President Kim Il Sung.

On the basis of deep analysis into the women's situation in the 1920s, Kim Il Sung initiated founding a revolutionary organization among broad masses of women.

At the inaugural meeting of the association, Kang Pan Sok, elected its chairwomen, called for united efforts to achieve the women's emancipation and the national liberation.

The birth of the association marked the beginning of women's movement in Korea. The association adopted it as its tasks to drive the Japanese invaders out of Korea, build a new society in Korea and attain women's social emancipation.

After the formation of this women's organization, Kang Pan Sok ran a night school to teach its members Korean alphabet and enlighten them.

Under her guidance, the association grew stronger in scope and scale while getting ready to carry into practice Kim Il Sung's intention for Korea's liberation.

Its members volunteered to take care of orphans and children of revolutionaries. Especially, they actively helped Kim Il Sung in his efforts to kick off the anti-Japanese armed struggle by forming a guerrilla army.
