Shoal of Fishes Die in S. Korea
Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- The south Korean paper Hangyore carried an article titled "Four large rivers are dying" denouncing the authorities for seriously polluting natural environment.

The article said:

Owing to the projects for improving the four large rivers pushed forward by the Lee Myung Bak "government", shoal of fishes are dying and the damage is expanding in Rivers Kum and Rakdong from the end of October last.

When standing to watch the scenes of the polluted rivers, one feels as if one were hearing the protest against those who have seriously polluted the environment. This being a hard fact, the authorities are persistently denying the linkage of shoal of fishes' death with the above-said projects.

When the projects started, the worsening quality of water and destruction of ecosystem arose as the biggest problem. At that time, however, Lee Myung Bak persistently brushed aside everything.

The above-said death of fishes glaringly proved the adverse nature of the projects.

It is necessary to reexamine the whole course of the projects, look into what went wrong and tell who is responsible for it.

Original objective of the projects was to prevent flood, improve the water quality and restore ecosystem and create more jobs but nothing has been done properly.

The four rivers not only turned into those of death but illegal practices were rampant in the course of projects and those businesses involved in the projects committed all sorts of wrongdoings including scandals.
