Korean People Cherish Memory of Kim Jong Il on 1st Anniversary of His Demise
Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- One year has passed after the demise of leader Kim Jong Il, but he is still alive in the hearts of the Korean people.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is seized with memorial atmosphere for Kim Jong Il on Monday, the anniversary of his demise.

In Pyongyang, an inaugural meeting for the renovated Kumsusan Palace of the Sun was held ceremoniously.

Memorial services were held with solemnity across the country to commemorate the first anniversary of his death.

Endless streams of people are making their way to the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and their large smiling portraits displayed across the country, with floral baskets and flowers in their hands.

When sirens rang at noon, all the local people observed three-minute silence in memory of Kim Jong Il.

Various memorial events took place in Pyongyang and provincial cities and newspapers and other publications dedicated much space of their pages to introducing his sacred life and undying feats.

The ardent yearning for Kim Jong Il, surging high among the DPRK people, has hardened their determination to follow the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un with loyalty.
