Pyongyang, December 17 (KCNA) -- Newspapers of Nepal and Germany carried special write-ups to mark the first anniversary of demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

The Nepali newspaper Jana Sata on Dec. 8 carried an article titled "Leader Kim Jong Il" with his photo.

The article said:

Kim Jong Il grew up, hearing gun reports of the two revolutionary wars for the country's independence. He turned the DPRK into a powerful and prosperous country strong in revolutionary spirit, true to the intentions of President Kim Il Sung.

Kim Jong Il was the beacon of hope and the mental pillar of the world progressives.

He turned the DPRK into a nuclear weapons state despite the complicated international situation and ceaseless moves of the imperialists to stifle it.

His life was a great one devoted to the independent right, interests and safety of the country and the nation.

To put into practice the President's wish for national reunification Kim Jong Il provided north-south summit meetings, opening up a bright prospect for the country's reunification.

The great exploits of Kim Jong Il who turned the DPRK into a nuclear weapons state with his Songun politics will be immortal.

The December issue of the German newspaper Rote Fahne said in an article titled "Kim Jong Il, great son of the Korean people," with his smiling portrait:

Kim Jong Il developed the Juche idea, the Songun idea which was founded by Kim Il Sung to glorify it as the banner of certain victory and treasured sword for realizing the cause of independence. He also consolidated the DPRK into an ever-victorious socialist power and the Korean People's Army into a matchless army.

Under his leadership the DPRK has ranked itself among those countries that manufacture and launch satellites.

The legacy left by Kim Jong Il has become a beacon of the struggle for the victory of the socialist cause in the DPRK and global independence.
