Lee Myung Bak Group's Crimes during Five Years of Its Office Laid Bare
Pyongyang, December 15 (KCNA) -- The National Reunification Institute released an indictment on Dec. 15 laying bare the fascist dictatorship and human rights abuses of the Lee Myung Bak conservative group of south Korea during five years of its office.

According to it, the Lee group has wantonly violated democracy and human rights in south Korea.

No sooner had traitor Lee took office than he stamped out all sprouts of democracy and totally revived the dictatorial ruling system.

It reorganized Chongwadae and the administration in line with the dictatorial system, drastically reinforcing the Intelligence Service, the Defense Security Command, prosecution, police and other fascist repressive machines and reviving political surveillance system.

It more desperately invoked the existing fascist laws including the "National Security Law" and, at the same time, reinforced legal and institutional levers for its repressive rule by retrogressively revising or faking up the "law on the Intelligence Service," "law on protecting the secret of communications," "law on combating terrorism," "law on protecting secret" and "law on settling cyber crisis."

It also advanced "a proposal for severely punishing illegal collective actions" which calls for not holding police responsible for brutal suppression, set up a system whereby those of merit in repressive operations are honored with special promotion and revived a summary trial system.

It permitted the use of various types of repressive equipment such as tear gas shells, water cannon, powder fire-extinguishers and electric shock devices the use of which had been banned earlier. It went the lengths of reviving all leftovers of dictatorship. It made it compulsory for the schools to conduct "education in security" and for the cinemas to screen films praising the "government."

It intensified indiscriminate political suppression in the wake of establishing a fascist ruling system.

The primary targets of suppression by the conservative group were progressive and democratic forces including forces advocating reunification through alliance with the north. They included the former "presidents," officials concerned of the former "people's government" and "government for people," politicians of the opposition parties and figures of social circles.

Intelligence authorities regularly received 6-7 million pieces of information about individuals every year and more than 67 400 pieces of recorded communication information every day during the five years of the group's office.

The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification and many other organizations for the reunification movement and progressive media were searched, their belongings confiscated and their leading members were thrown behind bars after being labeled "anti-state organizations" and "enemy-benefiting organizations."

During the period of traitor Lee's term, the number of people who were thrown into prisons on charges of the violation of the "National Security Law" (NSL) increased four times that under the preceding regime. Spy cases cooked up by the present south Korean regime numbered 17.

The "Saenuri Party" sided with traitor Lee Myung Bak's politically-motivated suppression.

The group of conservatives called the pro-reunification forces calling for reunification through alliance with the north the "forces following the north" and even labeled all the organizations and personages who demanded the withdrawal of the U.S. troops, abolishment of the NSL and reunification by federal formula as forces "following the north" and harshly suppressed them.

Lee Myung Bak took the lead in the racket for "eliminating the forces following the north" and the south Korean prosecution declared a "war against the leftist forces following the north". The puppet military worked out "standard program" for ferreting out the "forces following the north" and distributed it to units of the south Korean army.

The group of conservatives including the "Saenuri Party" tried to label the Democratic United Party (DUP) as forces "following the north".

As regards the puppet presidential election the group, taking issue with the dialogue minutes of the summit in 2007, branded the candidate from the DUP as a "leftist following the north", saying that Roh Moo Hyun sold out the "northern limit line in the West Sea to the north."

The conservative group has persistently resorted to the moves of putting the media under control for the enforcement of the dictatorship rule.

Lee and the "Saenuri Party" at an extraordinary session of the "National Assembly" on Feb. 26, 2008 railroaded the bill on establishment and management of broadcasting and communication committee and established the Broadcasting and Communication Committee by combining the Broadcasting Committee and the Ministry of Information and Communication. Then they made it a body directly under the authority of the "president".

They helped their yes-men and conservative plutocratic media monopolize media.

Due to the moves of the conservative group to grab media progressive media speaking for justice and truth have been stifled in south Korea whereas conservative media have gone on the rampage and all media have been reduced to reptile mouthpiece of the "government" authorities.

The conservative group curtailed or concealed and enforced blackout on the information unfavorable for the regime and "the Saenuri Party". It suppressed anyone posting any article displeasing them even a bit on internet homepage on charges of spreading false stories and cyber libel.

Traitor Lee cracked down upon the struggle of the south Korean people for their right to existence.

In spring, 2008 the Lee group brutally clamped down upon the large-scale candle-light demonstrations of south Korean people against the import of American beef infected with mad cow disease.

It hurled police forces into indiscriminate killing of evacuees in Ryongsan in January, 2009.

It also brutally suppressed the actions of people of various circles for defending vital rights including the strike of cargo transport workers union, the campaign of the "government" employees trade union, the strike of the railway workers union, the campaign of the Teachers Union, the campaign of the students for getting registration fee halved.

The five years of office of Lee and "the Saenuri Party" were a period of nightmare, horror and despair in which south Korea has turned into a tundra of democracy and human rights.

Noting that such fascist maniacs are working hard to stay in power and bring back the spectre of "yusin" dictatorship, the indictment said this is an insult and challenge to the south Korean people aspiring after new politics and new life.
