S. Korean People Denounce Authorities for Escalating Tension
Pyongyang, December 15 (KCNA) -- Residents in the areas around Taechu-ri, Phyongthaek City and Aegibong of Kimpho City of Kyonggi Province and Kangjong village of Sogwipho City of Jeju Island of south Korea gathered in Seoul on December 10 to denounce the "government" authorities for fanning up a war atmosphere under the pretext of security.

They are the typical victims of the military authorities' anti-DPRK confrontation racket and war moves.

The puppet regime conducted large operations to deprive people in the areas of Taechu and Todu-ris, Phaengsong township, Phyongthaek City, Kyonggi Province of their cradles in May 2006 in a bid to expand the U.S. military base in Phyongthaek.

It hurled police and gangsters of the evacuation teams and even MPs, military engineering corps, helicopters and heavy equipment into the operations, driving out the residents who made strong resistance and offering the areas as a base of U.S. forces for aggression.

The people in Kangjong village are suffering a lot from the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors' moves to build a Jeju naval base.

Meanwhile, the warmongers staged a farce of kindling a light on the tower atop Aegibong in Kagum-ri and Hasong-myon of Kimpho City, Kyonggi Province. This threw the people in the area into such danger that a military conflict may take place any time.

The people from the three areas published a declaration on the same day.

The declaration denounced the authorities for resorting to violence against the people, vociferating about security in preparation for a war of aggression without any ground.

The authorities' talk about security only created the danger of war, bringing unbearable sufferings to the people, it noted.

In case the authorities violate the human rights of the people and take illegal military actions and acts of aggression, the people will stand up against them and launch a protest campaign, it warned.
