Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Demise Marked in India
Pyongyang, December 15 (KCNA) -- Various events took place in India on the occasion of the first anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's demise and the 21st anniversary of his assumption of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army.

They included a remembrance meeting, seminar, book and photo exhibition and film show. They were organized by the Indian Youth Group for the Study of Works of Comrade Kim Il Sung, the Indian Society for the Study of Works of Kim Jong Il and the Indian Society for Juche Idea-Self-Reliance Studies on Dec. 6 and 8.

In the venues of those events photos of Kim Jong Il in the middle of revolutionary activities were on show.

Also on display were books and photos that dealt with his brilliant revolutionary career and immortal exploits.

The participants in the film show watched "Arms of Korea" and other Korean films.

Balzor Singh Chauhan, chairman of the Indian Youth Group for the Study of Works of Comrade Kim Il Sung, praised Kim Jong Il as a great statesman for his great exploits for the cause of global independence.

One of his great achievements was that he frustrated the imperialists' maneuvers to stifle the DPRK and reliably defended Korean socialism and the regional peace and security by dint of his original Songun politics, the chairman said.

S. P. Pathak, chairman of the Indian Society for the Study of Works of Kim Jong Il, lauded him as an outstanding leader, great statesman and iron-willed commander of the cause of global independence.

Thanks to his energetic ideological and theoretical activities the Juche idea has become to shed brighter rays as the great guidelines in the era of independence, the chairman noted.

Parveen Gupta, secretary general of the Indian Society for Juche Idea-Self-Reliance Studies, stressed that Kim Jong Il was a benevolent father of the people who regarded it as his lifetime motto to believe in people as in Heaven and devoted himself to his people.
